This is how it functions. Patrons go in and select some or all of 14 meals from a menu. Number of servings determines cost of each meal. Then they cook it while still at the shop.

There are both private and public supervised cooking sessions. It’s as if a cooking show host steps out of the television to show people how to make the meal.

Carousel opened in 1973 in a converted supermarket, then moved to its current location in 1988. People can see the show while enjoying the meal, or fore go the meal in favor of just taking in the show . More theater people from New York have flocked there recently. This means the shows are even better than in the past.

”Wicked” has been a very popular play . This is a story that takes place before the Wizard of Oz and involves many of the witches in that world. From August to November of 2008 the Carousel urges theater patrons to see the “story that started it all,” the original story Wizard of Oz presented in a stage play. The frame around the stage that moves the sets around, the Proscenium, is very intricate. The Carousel has hosted a lot of Broadway plays over time. ”The Odd Couple” brought down the house in 2008. It’s almost a Broadway off Broadway, where you can enjoy a meal while watching a top quality play. High School Musical will play there in 2009.

Fairs and street vendors often have corn dogs, an American favorite. While a little on the unhealthy side, it’s quick and good to eat. The batter is flour, corn meal, salt, sugar and baking powder mixed with milk. Then coat the dogs and fry until golden brown. If you want the feel of the fair, insert a popsicle stick.

In the old days dinner and supper were two different things, one a main meal and the other a lighter snack. Social status and job type dictated changes in this over time. Afternoon dinner helped those with physical jobs make it through the later part of the day.

But now dinner has become the sole evening meal, the anchor to the family and transition from the work of the day to winding down at night. The meaning of supper and dinner have merged.
